This Reserve Cab hails from Ron Siegemund’s “aCURE eSTATE” Vineyard, located in the hills at the western end of Alexander Valley, an area that enjoys long, sunny days and cool nights, ideal for properly ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is composed of a sandy, gravelly loam, and the vines tend to be very small.
These grapes were harvested by hand in the cool of the early morning. At the winery, fermentation was self-initiated with native yeast, supplemented with classic French Red yeast. The wine was finished with aging in French Oak barrels.
With a deep garnet purple color, this wine offers up aromas of oak, dried figs, and dark fruits with hints of spice and chocolate. The palate continues with multiple layers of dark forest berries and earthy layers. A balanced wine with a strong backbone and a wonderfully long finish, this is a wine that will age well and can be enjoyed from 2020 to 2040.
