Winemaker Notes

The 2016 vintage in Alsace had a full season with great maturity but without excess summer heat, preserving fruit and acidity. Wine is made at Domaine du Manoir at the foot of the Letzenberg hill.

Terroir is Clayey limestone with terraced vineyards, located on east facing side of the hill slope with low yields. Grapes, growing on 35 year old vines, were hand harvested, crushed lightly and pressed with long fermentation on the lees.

Tasting Notes

One of the best vintages in the letzenberg, the 2016 Riesling is complex and refreshing. Aromas of white flowers, pear and minerality drift up the nose. The palate delivers a smooth, dry and well balanced wine, with fruit and acid, perfect for ageing. This wine can be enjoyed now or saved for another 5 to 8 years. Pairs well with fish, seafood and salads.
